High Weald Landscape Trail for Rwanda Aid

This week an amazing group of walkers, led by our wonderful Trustee, Emma Ogilvie, have completed the 102 mile High Weald Landscape Trail for Rwanda Aid. They have raised over £3000 for us and we are so grateful to them for this phenomenal effort! Now it’s over to Emma to tell us how it feels to complete such a huge physical feat…

Dear All
We had a stunning last day’s walk of 19 miles from Dingleden, near Benenden, to Rye.  Feeling thoroughly refreshed after a very comfy night at Catherine and Will Richards’ house, Will, Charlie and I set off on the final stretch.  It was the most beautiful day and we really felt we had saved the best until last as the views over the Kent countryside were breathtaking….

We lunched at Small Hythe Place where Amanda Fleet joined the team.  We walked through yet more stunning farmland before stopping for a much needed refreshments with David and Sally in Peasmarsh.  It seemed very fitting that the trail actually went right passed the doorstep of  Rwanda Aid’s founder!

Much revived, we took on the last few miles to Rye with a spring in our step – Kevin Fleet also joined us and we collected Elsbeth and Hettie on our approach to Rye.  We walked up the final hill to The George at 5pm for celebratory fizz all round.

Thank you so so much for your very generous donations – we are so close to surpassing our target now which is really fantastic. It has been a great way to celebrate Rwanda Aid’s 10th Anniversary.  We have walked well over our intended 100 miles and our legs and hips are very tired but it has been a wonderful 5 days and lots and lots of fun.

A big thank you to Sally for being so kind in moving our bags from one destination to the next – it made it so much easier for us!

Thank you to all of you who joined us at various stages – walking is a great way to catch up and having friends with us made such a huge difference and really helped to keep our spirits up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Lots of love Emma and Charlie xx
