Rwanda Riches

Rwanda is a small, land-locked country nestling in the very heart of Africa. It is an extremely beautiful country, a land of a thousand hills.
To the south west is the extensive Nyungwe mountain rain forest, one of the largest in the world. A magnificent range of rare birds and monkeys can be seen there.

Further to the west, Nyungwe opens out onto the spectacular, mountain-ringed Lake Kivu where men still fish as they have done for thousands of years

In the east of Rwanda lies the open savannah of Akagera National Park. This remains one of the best kept secrets in the world. A drive through the park will give you sightings of a wonderfully wide range of wild animals, but very few other tourists.

Perhaps most exciting of all is the opportunity to visit the rare mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park, near Ruhengeri in the north of the country.

Carefully protected, these animals are actually increasing in numbers, yet well controlled tourism is allowing visitors the chance to see them at remarkably close range.
